Who is this clown?
Ryan is a NYC-based theater performer, creator, and educator specializing in devising new works fueled by clown logic. He performs weekly at the Idiots Hour, hosts movement workshops, and offers individual coaching.
About Ryan
Ryan's performances embrace failure, celebrate universal idiocy, and invite in poetry, abstraction, and play. Known as a “controlled clumsy” acrobat with a penchant for flopping to the ground, Ryan thrives in rehearsal rooms with collaborators who can be both seriously stupid and honestly human.Ryan holds a BFA in Drama from the North Carolina School of the Arts, an MFA in Devised Performance from the Pig Iron School in partnership with the University of the Arts, and was a 2023-24 Julliard Teaching Fellow. Ryan currently teaches theater at the Manhattan School of Music.

Write Foot Workshop Series
Write Foot Workshops use movement, mask, and ensemble play to create original work. Discover heightened physicality, wild abandon, and poetic idiocy through creation with others. Imagine a clown nose was put on top of the classroom and your body was your canvas for an evening of creating physical poetry using the dumbest depths of your brain.Drawing from the world of Commedia Dell'Arte utilizing wooden Balinese half-masks we explore a state of play through exercises based in training created by Jacques Lecoq, Pig Iron Theater, and Bob Francesconi.Workshops are open to anyone interested in sweating, playing, and writing all at the same time. Dare to be stupid — all levels of experience welcome!
